Extra Credit Alert for ALL CLASSES:
You all have an extra credit opportunity (Tuesday, February 24th) by attending Peer Court after school in portable #9 from 3:15-5:15. To earn the extra credit (and even some community service hours) you must be there the entire time! To get the extra credit answer the following questions about each case (there will be a maximum of 4 cases): a- What was the case about? (i.e. what are they in trouble for doing?), b- What was the jury's decision & did the judge change anything?, and c- Did you agree or disagree with the outcome? Why? Additionally some of you will have the opportunity to be jurors and ask questions (if you end up being chosen for that please answer the above questions for your case only AND write about what the jury experience was like...hard, easy, confusing, etc.) This write up on Peer Court will be due 1 week after the event (Tuesday, March 3rd).

US= You have your first homework packet of the new semester due this week on Chapters 10 & 11. Be prepared to turn it in on Wednesday, (2/25 for odd periods) and Thursday, (2/26 for even periods). Homework Packets will NOT be accepted if they are late. Turn your work in on time...you have had 3 weeks to do this assignment!

You will also have a test on the day that your homework packet is due...be sure to use the study guide you were given the week before the break to help you prepare & don't forget to study the map in your homework packet since there WILL be map questions on the test!

PacRim/IR= We will be finishing up with the 5 major religions of the world in class on Tuesday before taking the Quest (longer than a quiz, shorter than a test) that will cover Geography, Culture, & Religion. You will have a new map to label & complete that will be due on Thursday.

Just for fun....how often do you meet cast members from the latest "Friday the 13th" film??? I would venture to say not very often; so when I met them I had to get a picture, because you all know that these types of movies kind of freak me out...I can't even watch the commercial, but I did stand next to Jason (minus the mask & gore) in this picture!
Jonathan Sadowski (Wade in the movie), Aaron Yoo (Chewie in the movie), me, & Derek Mears (so that's what Jason looks like without the mask). P.S. I was wearing heels and Derek is leaning over & still he's a head taller than me...I think he's 6'5" or something.

Hello 2009!  I hope that you all enjoyed the break! Well here we are just a few weeks away from the end of the semester...be sure to stay on top of your work before finals!   US= Your extra credit assignment is due Wednesday, 1/7 (for odd periods) & Thursday, 1/8 (for even periods)...the assignment is posted on School Loop. Be sure to bring your "Graphing Indicators of the Great Depression" worksheet back to class, as we continue to learn about the 1930s and the Great Depression we will be using that sheet to answer some questions. We will not have a test on Chapters 8 & 9 before the final, but there will be a quiz on each of the  chapters. You should be ready for a quiz on Chapter 8 as early as the end of this week! Isn't that quote so fitting for our weather right now? Well one more week before our Spring Break and here is what we have going on: US= We are working on Chapter 14 dealing with the Civil Rights Movement. Don't forget that you have workbook pages 117, 119, & 121 due this week (Thursday for 6th period & Friday for 1st, 3rd, & 5th periods). Also on that day you will take a Quest (longer than a quiz, but shorter than a test) on chapter 14 & the Civil Rights Movement. In terms of your project...I have made a concession, you may turn it in on the original due date given & receive 10 extra credit points (these points will go toward you project & are therefore worth more than "normal" extra credit points due to how the grades are weighted) or you may turn it in on Monday, April 14th before the end of lunch to receive full credit. This week's schedule: Monday– A day Tuesday– B day Wednesday– Late Start A day Thursday– B day Friday– A day  (extended lunch) U.S. History=   The " profile " for your Historical Civil Rights Figure is due to be uploaded on you class's www.edmodo.com page by 11pm on 3/22 (no matter what period you are in). This Civil Rights Historybook project will move quickly and be done by 3/31 & 4/1, so be sure to look at what you need to be accomplishing in the other parts of the project.  Please bring your composition book to class (if you didn't turn it in with your World War II work).
