  • This week is Red Ribbon Week at NHHS...I hope you'll take a moment to think about the choices you make and how they not only impact you, but those around you! 
  • Extra credit write-ups from Peer Court or the "GO" film are due by Thursday (10/23)!
  • Get logged on with School Loop to see your most current grade and upcoming assignment due dates! You can do this at the school website.
US= We are continuing with chapter 3 this week...some of you have biography powerpoints due this week and you all have your Chapter 3 Homework Packets due next week (look to the left for exact due dates).

PacRim/IR= We have our South America Map Test on Tuesday (10/21) and your Poem Project (including the visual) is due on Thursday (10/23). We will have our Human Rights Quest (longer than a quiz, but shorter than a test) on Monday, October 27th.
Just for fun... Miss Kirby, Azolile, Julius, Odwa, & Siphelo...some of the students I worked with at Bridges Academy in South Africa this past summer.

Hello 2009!  I hope that you all enjoyed the break! Well here we are just a few weeks away from the end of the semester...be sure to stay on top of your work before finals!   US= Your extra credit assignment is due Wednesday, 1/7 (for odd periods) & Thursday, 1/8 (for even periods)...the assignment is posted on School Loop. Be sure to bring your "Graphing Indicators of the Great Depression" worksheet back to class, as we continue to learn about the 1930s and the Great Depression we will be using that sheet to answer some questions. We will not have a test on Chapters 8 & 9 before the final, but there will be a quiz on each of the  chapters. You should be ready for a quiz on Chapter 8 as early as the end of this week! Your homework is to do Cornell Notes for both chapters 8 & 9 and to complete workbook pages 68, 70, 72, 74, 76, 78, & 80...this is due Thursday, 1/22 (for odd periods) and Friday, 1/23 (for even periods). Isn't that quote so fitting for our weather right now? Well one more week before our Spring Break and here is what we have going on: US= We are working on Chapter 14 dealing with the Civil Rights Movement. Don't forget that you have workbook pages 117, 119, & 121 due this week (Thursday for 6th period & Friday for 1st, 3rd, & 5th periods). Also on that day you will take a Quest (longer than a quiz, but shorter than a test) on chapter 14 & the Civil Rights Movement. In terms of your project...I have made a concession, you may turn it in on the original due date given & receive 10 extra credit points (these points will go toward you project & are therefore worth more than "normal" extra credit points due to how the grades are weighted) or you may turn it in on Monday, April 14th before the end of lunch to receive full credit. This week's schedule: Monday– A day Tuesday– B day Wednesday– Late Start A day Thursday– B day Friday– A day  (extended lunch) U.S. History=   The " profile " for your Historical Civil Rights Figure is due to be uploaded on you class's www.edmodo.com page by 11pm on 3/22 (no matter what period you are in). This Civil Rights Historybook project will move quickly and be done by 3/31 & 4/1, so be sure to look at what you need to be accomplishing in the other parts of the project.  Please bring your composition book to class (if you didn't turn it in with your World War II work). You'll need it in class on Monday & Tuesday. You will have two reading excerpts (with 3 questions each) handed out in class on Monday & Tuesday to also complete in your composition book.
